A Field Trip to Dar Al-Baqiyat Al-Salihat for Alzheimer’s Care
As part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement, the Faculty of Physical Therapy at October University For Modern Sciences And Arts (MSA), under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Olfat Diab, Dean of the Faculty, organized a field trip to the “Dar Al-Baqiyat Al-Salihat for Alzheimer’s Patients” (Dr. Abla Al-Kahlawy Hospital). The event saw the participation of third-year students from the Department of Physical Therapy for Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, along with several faculty members and teaching assistants.
During the visit, a seminar titled “Your Hand in Ours, We Live Healthily” was held, where various speakers addressed key health topics relevant to the elderly, including:
–Healthy Nutrition for Seniors: The importance of proper diet in maintaining health.
–Body Posture Awareness : Educating both the elderly and caregivers on maintaining correct body positions to avoid musculoskeletal injuries, such as chronic back pain.
–Physical Therapy for Respiratory Issues: The presentation focused on addressing a common health issue among seniors—mucus buildup in the respiratory system due to weakened immunity and frequent infections. The session highlighted physical therapy techniques to aid in clearing mucus and improving lung function.
This initiative reflects the Faculty’s dedication to providing support and care for the community, demonstrating its commitment to promoting health education and awareness for both students and the public.
